Landing Tracts for Advanced Living & Positive American Youth present Walk Away Hunger 2015. Our “Walk Away Hunger” project focuses on methods to create advocacy and support for sustainable access to nutritious food. This walk will help address the negative health and nutrition implications of food insecurity in seniors and provide proper nutrition critical to a child’s development.

45.3 million Americans (15 percent) live in poverty, including 14.7 million (20 percent) children under the age of 18-Census Bureau.
49.1 million Americans lived in food-insecure households, including nearly 16 million children under age 18, and 2.9 million seniors over age 60 -USDA.
Number of food insecure seniors is projected to increase by 50% when the youngest of the Baby Boom Generation reaches age 60 in 2025. Fewer than 13% of children have nutritious food during summer months.
